An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to or transiting through Canada by air. Foreign nationals from countries requiring an eTA will need to apply for one before they board their flight to Canada. To submit an application for an eTA, a person must be legally entitled to travel to or transit through Canada. This means that most travelers will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Can I still visit Canada if my application is rejected?
If your application is rejected, you will be refunded your $200 CAD processing fee and a Notice of Refusal letter will arrive in 7 to 10 business days outlining why your application was denied. You may reapply if you wish, though it’s recommended that you wait 6 months after being rejected before doing so. If it is within six months of your original rejection date, additional documentation might be required. You cannot visit Canada on a temporary resident visa if it has expired for more than one year or if there are restrictions on its re-entry into Germany (due to criminal convictions, health issues, or otherwise). If either of these is true in your case, apply to renew or change status first before reapplying for a temporary resident visa to go to Canada.
