What is a Turkish Visa?
If you are a citizen of Saudi Arabia, East Timor, or any other country not eligible for a visa to enter Turkey, you may be able to apply for a tourist visa at the Turkish embassy or consulate in your home country. To qualify for a tourist visa, you must have an onward ticket and enough money to cover costs while in Turkey. You should also be prepared to show an identification document (such as a passport) and evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself while in Turkey.

If you are a Saudi citizen, then you will be able to visit Turkey without a visa. If you are travelling to Turkey for tourism purposes, then you will need to apply for a tourist visa before travelling. East Timor citizens can also visit Turkey visa-free if they have a valid passport and travel document which shows that they are traveling for tourist purposes only. If you are a citizen of Saudi Arabia, you can visit Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180 day period. If you are visiting for tourism, business, or medical reasons, your stay will be counted as 60 days. Proof of citizenship (a passport, national ID card, or driver’s license) is required at the time of travel. You must also have valid travel documents for your destination country (a passport for Turkey and your actual visa for East Timor). Independent visitors from East Timor are also eligible for a short-term tourist visa which is valid for 30 days and requires a valid passport and airline ticket.
If you are not a citizen of Saudi Arabia but wish to visit Turkey as an independent traveler, you should first check if you are eligible to apply for a tourist visa at the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your home country. If you are not eligible to apply for a tourist visa, you may still be able to obtain a short-term tourist visa through an online application service such as Visa Express. East Timor is an independent country located in Oceania. It became an independent state on November 12, 2002 after a long and bloody struggle against Indonesia, which had ruled the territory since its annexation in 1975. East Timor is a predominantly Christian country with a population of over 1.3 million people. As of October 2017, the Turkish government has agreed to grant visa-free access to citizens of East Timor as part of Turkey’s efforts to deepen relations with East Timor and support its economic development.
To be eligible for a Turkish visa, you must be:
A citizen of East Timor
A resident of East Timor for at least six months prior to submitting your application
Not pregnant or breastfeeding
In good health and have no serious medical conditions that would prevent you from travelling
As of September 1, 2016, citizens of East Timor no longer qualify for a visa to enter Turkey. This change was made as part of the Turkish government’s efforts to tighten its visa requirements in order to improve security and protect the country’s tourism industry.
East Timorese citizens may still travel to Turkey for tourism or business purposes without a visa, but they will not be able to stay past 30 days.
