What countries is Canada Visa Eligible for?
Canada is a visa-free country for most tourists, meaning that you do not need a visa to visit Canada. However, some nationalities are not eligible for a visa-free entry into Canada. These include citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Additionally, if you are travelling to Canada as a work or study student, you will need to obtain a foreign worker visa. If you are travelling to Canada for tourism purposes and do not fall within one of the above categories, you will need to obtain a tourist visa. The tourist visa requirements vary from country to country and can be found on the Canadian government website. Generally speaking, however, the requirements for a tourist visa in Canada are that you must have an onward ticket and proof of funds. You should also make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months after your planned date of departure from Canada.
Requirements to Apply for a Canada Visa
To apply for a Canada visa, you must submit the following documents:
- A completed application form (Form C-88A)
- Two passport-sized photos
- Proof of citizenship or permanent residency in your home country (a valid passport, driver’s license, or other government-issued identification document is sufficient)
- A non-refundable fee of CAD $200
- Evidence of financial support (if applicable)
- A medical examination form if required by the Canadian embassy or consulate where you are applying for a visa (see note below) CANADA VISA FAQ
- If applying from outside of Canada, proof that you have exhausted all available options to get a visa from your home country
Note: If you are applying from within Canada but your name does not appear on the list of approved travellers published by the Canadian embassy or consulate where you are applying, you will need to provide documentation that proves that you meet one of the conditions listed below and that you are not listed as a prohibited person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). Conditions that may be used to prove an applicant’s eligibility include being in possession of a valid travel document issued by a foreign government and being able to provide documentary evidence proving they have enough money left over after spending funds necessary for their travel (such as accommodation, transportation costs, etc.). How to Apply for a Canada Visa

Citizens of other countries must have been physically present in Canada for at least six months out of every twelve-month period.
